Inventory of Sounds Space Refuses to Make

The tape is not blank. Every meter in the building agrees that the tape is not blank. The tape simply declines.

What survives of the accompanying list:

• The sound of a door being closed by somebody who lives there
• The sound of ████████████
• The sound of a name being used correctly for the first time
• ██████████████████████
• The sound of weather arriving at a place with no one in it
• The sound of a refund

Intake notes

Two lines were withheld at the request of the Registrar, who did not give a reason and has since been described in official minutes as “on instance leave.”

The Bureau notes, without comment, that the fourth item was legible when the tape arrived.

Handling

Do not attempt to reconstruct the withheld lines. Three staff have tried. All three produced the same two lines. None will say them out loud.
